Plaster de-laminating?

Tips for Tradies

Have you ever had problems with your plaster de-laminating / falling off the wall in patches on old plasterboard that has been previously wallpapered?

Most often the cause of the plaster not adhering is due to the presence of glue remnants from the wallpaper, causing poor plaster adhesion to the plasterboard.

The best solution for this is to buy a good pigmented oil based sealer (preferably with a high amount of pigment solids in it). Roll all old plasterboard areas with this. This should seal in the contamination and give the plaster a good base to stick to. Once it is dry, you should be able to plaster the surface with almost no problem of delamination.
